Pilates
What is Pilates, and how is it different from yoga or other workouts?
Pilates is a low-impact movement method focused on core strength, flexibility, alignment, breath and body awareness. It emphasizes controlled, precise movements, often using specialized equipment like the Reformer, Cadillac, or Chair.
Do I need to be flexible or in shape to start Pilates?
Not at all! Pilates is for every body. Whether you're a beginner or returning to movement after injury, we tailor sessions to your ability level.
What should I wear to class?
Wear comfortable clothing you can move in, like what you would wear when working out. You may choose to go barefoot or wear grippy socks.
Do I need medical clearance to begin?
If you have an existing injury, recent surgery, or are pregnant, we recommend speaking with your doctor. Let us know on your intake form so we can modify accordingly.
Is Pilates safe during pregnancy or postpartum?
Yes—with modifications. We offer prenatal and postpartum options and instructors trained to guide you safely through this stage.
Sauna
How is Infrared Sauna different from a Traditional Sauna?
Infrared saunas use infrared light to directly heat the body while steam saunas use high humidity hot air. It’s a dry heat vs moist heat. The heat penetrates deeper into the body with an IR sauna. It feels like relaxing in the sun.
Is Infrared Sauna harmful to the skin?
Infrared light has longer wavelengths and lower energy which is felt as heat. This is different from UV (ultraviolet) light from the sun which has shorter wavelengths and higher energy which can cause harm to skin.
How hot will the Infrared Sauna be?
For first timers we set the sauna at 136F. The highest temperature we can set our clients on is 150F for 30 mins. You do not want to go above 150 for more than 30 mins. The sauna itself can go up to 200F but the optimal time for that would be about 10 mins. The sauna creates stress on the body allowing cells to regenerate because you are actively sweating out toxins. So new cells can form. The temperature of 136-150 will also help with circulation and oxygen flow to the brain, any higher than this for long periods of time creates too much stress.
What should I wear?
No clothing would be the most comfortable and allow for more skin exposure to the infrared light. Some clients opt to wear bathing suits. Loose fitting clothing works as well.
How should I prepare for my sauna session?
Please make sure you are well hydrated beforehand and bring water with you. We will also have filtered water for you at the studio. We provide you with towels but you may bring one as well if you prefer.
